Previous Youth Events & Trips (With Photos)

We do a lot as a youth group but there are two retreats that seem to always rise above the rest.

Senior Trip:

Every year we honor our seniors by allowing them to choose the destination for our retreat.  Last year they picked Chattanooga TN were we went rafting on the Ocoee river (where they held the 1996 kayak events for the Olympics), visited the "Towing Muesam" (don't ask), and stayed in floating cabins on lake Nickajack.

During our stay we studied some of the hero's of the faith like Moses and Nehemiah.  We learned about the circumstances they lived in and how we could apply their leadership skills in our lives.

Leadership Retreat:

We work hard at developing leaders.  So once a year we take a small group away from the comforts of home and challenge them physically, mentally, and spiritually.  This past year the students signed up without knowing what they were going to do or where they were going!  We stayed in a large cabin somewhere near Beckley WV.  On the first day we went Mt. Climbing and repelling off of a 150 foot cliff.  The next day we went spelunking (Caving).  For 6 hours we hiked, crawled, shimmied, and squeezed through crevices fit for no man, woman, or child.

While we had a lot of fun our main goal was to develop leaders.  Each morning we started with personal devotions and every night we had a group study.  This years topic was the Tactics of Satan as the "Deceiever", "Destroyer", and "Ruler".
